The unit was returned to me about a week later and the only thing that was done was that the hard drive was reformatted and returned to it?s factory state. this website during my one year period (each time to fix the touchpad). fyi I started having issues with my touchpad recently (I have a VAIO VGN-FW468 with dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows 7, and the problem has happening on both OS's). Sorry to hear it did not work for you. Thank you! I have found a workaround, move the transformer as far away as possible, seems to work fine. Called Sony, they told me the whole driver/reboot/reinstall song-and-dance.Nothing worked, I'm certain it's a hardware issue like others are reporting.
So, after some time, it began to get worst, going ballistic in my screen, hitting buttons i didn't press. Plugging a normal usb mouse in was a workaround but not the solution. Seems the driver is not the correct for your Vaio and I can only guess you did not follow exactly the instructions like deleting the 'new' one, or did not install Choose the Synaptics driver from the list and complete the procedure.
Eventually the client got fed up with the laptop disappearing for weeks on end so asked if he could have a new one or a different model.
