Either use the HTPC, or set your receiver to ProLogicII or IIx or IIz or whatever configuration you're using and hope for the best. But the Optical cables won't work on either Din1 or Din2. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT on the back of the external device. The TV passes HDMI sources in stereo. have a peek here

My tv and reciever only have optical output. I thought I Didn't need the monoprice box after all but when I plugged in all my devices straight to the tv and kept the toslink running from the tv to The Sound bar will turn off automatically if there is no key input entered for 8 hours whent the cable is connected. BTW, I just added a Sonos sub and it makes a HUGE difference.

The TV does have an option to switch audio from PCM to Auto (dolby) although the tv's output still doesn't send the 5.1 to the receiver. Menu, Sound, Additional Settings, Audio Format. However there is something to be aware of - Plex App on Samsung TV outputs Dolby 5.1 movies but when it sees a DTS it won't transcode DTS to Dolby Digital
