My own TV is hooked to the audio receiver in the same way (source is either component or HDMI) and audio is sent to the receiver from the audio out on My signal path would be HDMI CAbles from Roku and cable into the device, optical out to my soundbar (sonos soundbar MUST use optical) and HDMI out to the TV.
